Peer Lesson 2: Handprint Painting

Description: The painting lesson was taught to use using a variety of materials like regular acrylic paints, watercolor paints, pencils, and additional materials like a paintbrush, water, and a sharpie if needed. We made handprint animals with a background scene. We first practiced tracing our hand and creating an animal on a scrap paper, followed by painting our hand and stamping it on our larger paper. We filled in any spots we wanted to fix on our animal, drew details on our animal, then painted the rest with watercolor. I created an elephant with my hand, and with my watercolor paints added grass, a tree, clouds, and the sun.

Extension Activity: I would have students do a short writing, a paragraph or two, on their chosen animal. They would write facts about their animal as well as describing the project they created.
