3D Art: Halloween Faces

Description: The 3D Art lesson was the lesson my partner and I taught. For the 3D project, we chose to teach how to make a 3D Halloween Character. We first showed the class how to fold and place the head onto the background sheet so it appears to be popping out. Then, we showed them different techniques and ideas for shapes of ears, hair, and noses that they could choose from. We gave them a lot of freedom to personalize the character they made to however they wanted. Once finished creating the eyes, ears, nose, neck, and hair from construction paper, they drew on details, glued everything into place, and then glued on a square sheet for a shirt and added any remaining details.

Extension Activity: This project would fit into a unit where students are learning about someone famous. I would have them create a representation of a historical person during a history class as well that must be 3D. Another extension idea would be to have students, after learning how to make the head appear 3D in this project, use the same shape of 3D head but to create someone else that comes to mind when viewing the rectangle piece as 3D on a paper.
