Peer Lesson 5: Craft Decor

 

Description: The decor we made for the crafts lesson was a popsicle stick and yarn hanging craft. We first practiced drawing random patterns on a sheet of paper. After we had some ideas of what patterns we liked, we used sharpies to draw patterns on eight different popsicle sticks. Once we finished our patterns, we used bundles of yarn to tie on the bottom stick and let hang. We used two longer pieces of yarn to all of the sticks together on each side until they were all held together and could be hung up. 

Extension Activity: During a spelling unit, I would make this with a letter on each popsicle stick and the teacher would say the spelling word out loud to the student, who would then spell the word using the popsicle sticks with letters, and once spelled correctly, they lay it in the same pattern as above.
